Well, it's about that time of year again. The time when the kiddos head back to school and the nights are getting cooler. We have been enjoying the last of our bountiful tomato crop. I don't think I have ever eaten so much salsa in my life! I have posted some photos of the boys today. They are each such a blessing, and I am going to miss them filling the house with "boy noise" when the school bell rings. (can you tell I am emotional about it right now?) Andrew is heading off to his first year of High School and Spencer and Gannon will start the 5th grade this year. My little Nick is not so little and is beginning first grade... which means I will be all alone every day! Boo Hoo!!!! I am looking forward to planting some fall mums and putting out some fall decor as I do every year, but I think I am going to have a tough time without someone home during the day to keep me busy in my "Mom" role. On the other hand, the evenings will be filled with High School Football, Homework, Homework and more Homework along with guitar, swimming, etc. etc. I hope you all are healthy and happy and I will try to update more often. Take care everyone!
Salsa Fresco:
- 4 freshly chopped tomatos
- handful of chopped cilantro
- 3 T. chopped green pepper
- 2 or 3 jalapeno peppers (to taste) chopped
- 3t. freshly squeezed lime juice
- pinch of coarse ground salt
- dash of black pepper
- 1/2t. garlic powder
- 1/2 t. onion salt
- 1/2 T. sugar
* Put all ingredients in blender or food processor and "whiz" for a couple of seconds until you get desired consistancy. We like it really blended, or you can leave it chunky. It is simply soooo good!
Alright, which one of you gals left this chair on my front steps? I found this sitting outside of my door the other night! Well, whoever it was, I love it! I adore antique/old child size chairs and have some fun plans for this! When you are ready to fess up, come over for a cup of tea and I'll tell you my ideas. Thank you!!!

ReplyDeleteThat salsa sounds yummy! My hubby is a big fan of it! The hotter, the better!
And what a nice mystery neighbor or friend that left you that chair! If you don't want it then you can leave it at my doorstep. :)
Kim- got your note-- first of all - no Lilly is a shi-zuh (sp?) my brother has a Westie (Baxter) we love him!! :)
ReplyDeleteI got this receipe off another blog- it smells OK not sure what I did wrong but it is not as strong as Id like it!!
3 bars of IVORY SOAP
cinnamon
cloves (grounded of course)
mod podge
take 1 bar and cut with pampered chef crinkle cutter (dont have to) and make little slices around the soap... very gentle
then take mod podge and paint on -I did thin and thick and think thin worked better- (boy that was a mouth full-ha)
then pour in a big baggie some cinnamon and cloves and drop the ivory in and shake till coated.... get out and repeat to other 2 bars.... let dry over night .
Get cheese cloth and cut a strip and tea dye. there ya go!!!!
hope this helps--cant remember the blog I seen it on but hers was cutier - not sure why!!!
ENJOY-let me know how you like it!!!
Hello Kim!....Thank you so much for shopping with me in my little store!....I will get your wares packed and ready to be mailed....your boys are adorable, I have two grown up ones and remember that homework all too well....don't worry about not having enough to do while they're at school, there's ALWAYS something to be done!....thank you again!
ReplyDeleteJanet
Thanks for the nice comments. Your "guys" are sure handsome! Just call the shop any day (except Monday) after about 10:30 and I'll be there. Thanks, Dawn
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet comment about Lucy, but I have to tell you, I still get those bigger grandkids to rock with me! Our Gannon is 11 and almost as tall as me, so the other day I sat on HIS lap! Have a great holiday weekend, Dawn
ReplyDeleteMornin' Kim!....I'm so glad to hear that your wares made it to you safely and quickly and most of all that you are pleased!....I don't think you have to wait so long to decorate for fall, I always start on September first because it all gets put away the day after Thanksgiving to make room for Christmas so it's not really out for an entire three month season....go ahead and have fun decorating!....I hope your family has a joyous holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteHI Kim!
ReplyDeleteYou can click on Colleens blog name to get to her blog and then she has a link set up so you can post a recipe. You can also click and save her picture to put on your blog post. Can your oldest boys show you how to click and save? I am not sure if I can explain it adequately!! LOL
